[Solana ID](https://www.solana.id/?ref=solanahorizon.com) will shut down its Hub, API services, and Solana Display Network by the end of September 2026, ending a two-year effort to build an onchain identity, rewards, and user-targeting layer for the Solana ecosystem.

The team said in its [wind-down announcement](https://x.com/solanaidentity/status/2090060170378301484?s=20&ref=solanahorizon.com) that all user data will be deleted by the end of the year. The Solana ID and Priority Pass email lists will also be deleted unless users opt in to a separate newsletter unrelated to Solana ID.

The project also burned the company treasury's SOLID token holdings, representing 73.78% of total supply, while saying the token will remain on-chain with locked liquidity pools. The team said there are no active campaigns and that it will not take on new Solana ID campaigns before the shutdown.

## What Solana ID Built

Solana ID was designed around a marketplace thesis. Projects needed better signals to identify valuable users, while users could be rewarded for their onchain activity, identity, and wallet history.

That model led to several connected products. In the first half of 2024, the team launched the SOLID Priority Pass, which it said sold about 20,000 units. Later, the project prepared the SOLID token launch through a SwissBorg private sale and a BorgPad public sale, both of which the team said sold out quickly.

In April 2025, Solana ID launched its official beta and the Solana ID Hub. According to the team, more than 17,000 users signed up for the Hub. The project also ran partner campaigns, including a campaign with MetaMask and several Solana projects, while developing the Solana Display Network, the Solana Attestation Service, and the Solana ID Portal.

The Display Network was intended to help apps show Solana ID rewards to users and earn revenue from clicks. In practice, the team said many high-traffic Solana apps did not need additional ad revenue enough to give up interface space, while the number of apps with sufficient traffic was limited.

## Why the Team Is Winding Down

Solana ID framed the shutdown as the result of several business and market bottlenecks rather than a single failure.

The team said the core marketplace faced a "chicken and egg" problem. Projects were less likely to run campaigns without enough active users, while users had fewer reasons to return without a steady flow of new campaigns and perks. That made the product dependent on both sides of the market growing at the same time.

The team also said the perk pipeline moved too slowly. Creating campaigns required partner-side development work, sales cycles took months, and some teams did not understand why they should pay for Solana ID's service while also offering user rewards.

Capital and timing compounded the issue. Solana ID said its revenue depended on marketing budgets, which were harder to secure in a weaker market. The team considered raising more capital, but said available structures for a post-ICO project would likely have been unfair to new investors, existing holders, or both.

Co-founder Simon Molitor said in a [separate post](https://x.com/simonmolitor/status/2090074190867013752?s=20&ref=solanahorizon.com) that the shutdown was one of the hardest things they had done, adding that the team "ran out of moves" after trying to keep the company alive. Co-founder Pierre said in [their own post](https://x.com/pierredotsol/status/2090064618622472262?s=20&ref=solanahorizon.com) that the team "fought until the last moment" and still believes in the underlying thesis, but that timing and the market were not on their side.

## What Happens to Users, Data, and SOLID

Solana ID says the Hub, API services, and Display Network will close by the end of September 2026\. No new campaigns will be accepted, and SOLID Talks, the project's weekly stream series, will end with the sunset after 94 episodes.

User data is scheduled for deletion by the end of 2026\. That is a meaningful detail for a project centered on identity and wallet-linked user signals, because it means the wind-down is not simply leaving dormant services online. The team is actively closing the data layer behind the product.

The SOLID token will continue to exist on-chain. Solana ID said liquidity pools are locked and that the treasury burn removed the team's remaining SOLID holdings, leaving nothing for the company to sell. The team linked to the [burn transaction](https://orbmarkets.io/tx/2m5iFmTUx5xS51rcCQjEwowsvBv75QcyAqzjS7UTydXvUBxu2fhKmaKXYhSAsfCstVU2tEmh19NmYJQ6dqL7qkAs?cluster=&ref=solanahorizon.com) as part of the announcement.

Solana ID also said it is open to acquisition offers for the brand and technology. Any buyer would inherit a project with an established community history, but not an active campaign business or live Hub roadmap as currently described.
