Solana Foundation joined Matera and Payfinia at Money20/20 USA in Las Vegas to [demonstrate invoice payments](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20261019530143/en/Matera-Payfinia-and-Solana-Foundation-Demonstrate-New-U.S.-QR-Code-Payment-Standard-at-Money2020?ref=solanahorizon.com) using a single X9.150 QR code. Customers paid through FedNow, the RTP network, or USDC on Solana, and funds arrived within seconds. The business's accounting software automatically marked the invoice paid.

"Solana's job is to make the stablecoin option as easy as the bank option," said Jamal Raees, general manager of payments at Solana Foundation.

The demonstration puts stablecoin settlement and bank payments in the same invoicing flow.

## How One Code Supports Different Payment Networks

ASC X9, the ANSI-accredited U.S. financial standards organization, published [X9.150, "Merchant-Presented QR Codes For Secure Payment,"](https://x9.org/new-x9-standard-for-secure-interoperable-qr-code-payments-will-accelerate-u-s-use-of-instant-payments/?ref=solanahorizon.com) in July. The standard defines payment requests and notifications across providers so a bank or wallet can use a payment method it supports. It covers FedNow, RTP, ACH credit transfers, and stablecoins; the consortium also lists the Zelle Network among supported methods.

A business issued an invoice carrying the code for the demonstration, and a payer reviewed and confirmed payment through a credit union banking app or Squads' Altitude wallet. Altitude offered the USDC option on Solana. A payment-status update then connected settlement to the invoice record.

Payfinia built the data-exchange and payment-routing workflow and tested it with Star One Credit Union's mobile app. Matera has published [reference software](https://github.com/matera-inc/x9.150-qrcode?ref=solanahorizon.com) for generating payment requests and validating notifications. That software handles payment information; the connected payment providers move the funds.

## From Invoice PDF to USDC Payment

A related [Altitude and Matera proof of concept](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/altitude-and-matera-bring-the-x9-150-qr-payment-standard-to-business-payments-at-money2020-usa-302912589.html?ref=solanahorizon.com) applies the standard to accounts payable without a person scanning a code. A payer uploads an invoice PDF to Altitude Bill Pay, which reads its QR code and retrieves a digitally signed payment request.

The application verifies the request's origin and integrity, then prefills invoice and recipient details for review. The signature establishes who sent the instructions and whether they changed; the payer still needs to decide whether to pay the underlying bill. Once the payer authorizes payment, USDC settles on Solana and a notification updates the invoicing application.

The consortium is inviting banks, credit unions, fintechs, and merchants to test X9.150 following the Money20/20 demonstration. Matera, Payfinia, Early Warning Services' Zelle Network, and Solana Foundation are members of the consortium. The project remains at the pilot stage.
