JurassicFi Teases August 17 Solana Launch for Its First Tokenized Dinosaur

Originally unveiled in June, the Triceratops specimen Deaton is now set to go live as JurassicFi prepares its first fossil-backed SPV offering.

JurassicFi Teases August 17 Solana Launch for Its First Tokenized Dinosaur

Jurassic Finance, also known as JurassicFi, has confirmed that Deaton, a museum-grade Triceratops prorsus skull, will come to Solana on August 17. The update marks the next step in the project's plan to bring high-value paleontological assets onchain through tokenized special purpose vehicles (SPVs).

The date was teased in a recent video shared by the team, signaling the beginning of Deaton's onchain lifecycle and the launch of JurassicFi's first fossil tokenization campaign.

Deaton, the Triceratops fossil.

Deaton was first introduced in June as a Triceratops prorsus skull containing approximately 60% to 65% original bone mass, with all three original horns preserved. JurassicFi plans to structure the fossil under a dedicated SPV that will hold legal ownership of the specimen before issuing a corresponding Solana SPL token representing economic rights to the asset.

The project has outlined an acquisition structure of approximately $1 million for Deaton. If completed, the associated token is expected to trade under the ticker TRCH1.

How JurassicFi Plans to Tokenize Fossils

Jurassic Finance is a Solana-based RWA platform focused on authenticated dinosaur fossils.

Rather than tokenizing fossils directly, the platform proposes creating a separate SPV for each specimen. The SPV would acquire legal ownership of the fossil, while ownership interests would be fractionalized into transferable SPL tokens on Solana. Authentication, custody, insurance, and legal administration would remain offchain, while token transfers would occur onchain.

According to the project, each fossil follows a five-stage process:

  • Source an authenticated specimen through dealers, auctions, or private collections.
  • Acquire the fossil through a dedicated SPV.
  • Issue transferable SPL tokens representing economic rights to the SPV.
  • Place the fossil in a museum or institution for public exhibition.
  • Provide token holders with economic exposure while maintaining onchain liquidity.

JurassicFi says it intends to partner with natural history museums instead of placing fossils in private storage. Under the proposed model, museums would assume responsibility for insurance, conservation, storage, and maintenance in exchange for exhibition rights, while the SPV would retain economic ownership of the asset.

Roadmap Includes Funding Round and Additional Fossil-backed Assets

Before launching its first fossil-backed SPV, Jurassic Finance is seeking to raise $200,000 for Jurassic Finance Labs through MetaDAO. The funding will support legal infrastructure, product development, operations, and go-to-market activities ahead of the first tokenized fossil launch.

The project's roadmap details plans for a separate SPV raise of approximately $1 million to fund the acquisition of the inaugural Triceratops specimen, which would then be tokenized as TRCH1.

The roadmap also includes plans for even more fossil-backed SPVs, a secondary marketplace for tokenized specimens, and lending markets where SPV tokens could be used as collateral.
