World, a Solana-native prediction market, has launched its standalone platform at world.xyz. The launch expands access beyond its earlier Phantom wallet rollout to a waitlist of more than 1 million users.
Users can trade binary "yes" and "no" contracts on outcomes in sports, crypto, politics, finance, economics, and culture. The launch slate includes every NFL regular-season game, seven soccer leagues, Formula 1, the 2026 midterms, and the Federal Reserve's next rate decision.
The platform gives Solana a dedicated prediction market as event-based trading gains visibility in consumer crypto. Instead of relying on token-holder votes or manual decision panels, World uses Chainlink Data Streams and the Chainlink Runtime Environment to resolve markets automatically when event data becomes available.
Six hours post-launch, World announced they'd temporarily taken down the site, as it had been overwhelmed with traffic. This onslaught of requests has no doubt been fueled by users receiving airdrops for engaging with the platform.

How World's Prediction Markets Work
World structures its markets as paired binary contracts. Users buy a "yes" or "no" position on a specific outcome, and market demand sets each contract's price between zero and one dollar. A winning contract then pays out under the market's settlement rules.
The platform is self-custodial, so users sign transactions from their own wallets instead of depositing assets into a traditional brokerage account. Contracts settle in CASH, Phantom's dollar-backed stablecoin.
Prediction markets rely on fast settlement, low transaction costs, and consumer wallet access. World first went live inside Phantom in July, securing distribution through one of Solana's largest wallet interfaces before launching a standalone website.
World has featured more than 150,000 markets since the Phantom launch. The dedicated website now gives the product its own front end while keeping it connected to Solana's consumer trading infrastructure.
Ramzy Ali, head of DeFi at the Solana Foundation, described the launch as part of an increase in retail trading applications on the network.
"We have seen a proliferation of retail trading apps on Solana this year," Ali said. "World is the next in line, bringing an entirely new asset class to Solana and keeping 100% of liquidity onchain."
Why Automated Resolution Matters
A prediction market's usefulness depends on settlement; users need confidence that the platform will resolve outcomes accurately and quickly without avoidable disputes.
For World, Chainlink's data and orchestration tools can resolve markets as soon as the relevant real-world outcome is known. A sports market, for example, could resolve when a game ends, while a financial market could settle when a stock closes or a reference price becomes available.
With this architecture, the World system aims to reduce dependence on human committees, token-holder votes, and lengthy dispute windows that can slow capital turnover. Faster settlement lets active traders move funds from resolved positions into new markets sooner.
Johann Eid, chief business officer at Chainlink Labs, said World's waitlist reflects demand for prediction markets on Solana. Eid also described Chainlink's role in supporting the platform's growth.
"Chainlink is powering this growth with the high-speed data and infrastructure World needs for reliable, immediate market resolutions, allowing them to scale while preserving the integrity of every outcome," Eid said.
Even with automated resolution, prediction market quality still depends on the wording of questions, the choice of data sources, the handling of edge cases, and whether users understand the rules before trading. It can, however, shorten the time between an event's conclusion and traders' access to settled funds.
A Consumer Test for Solana Prediction Markets
World is entering an incredibly competitive category that has proven to be a breakout one for crypto. As of June, Kalshi, one of the two dominant incumbent platforms, was reported to have 4 million users.
This launch test how open that category still is; it's a bet that the advantages of Solana-based technology can amass a similar audience size, and Phantom is a major part of that strategy. The wallet has more than 20 million users, and World's initial integration gave the market a direct channel to crypto-native consumers without requiring a separate exchange account.
World plans to add equity up/down markets and commodity markets covering gold, silver, oil, natural gas, and compute. Weather markets for major cities are expected to follow.
