MoneyGram has joined Solana Developer Platform (SDP) as an infrastructure partner and become an active validator on the Solana network. The two roles give the payments company access to Solana’s enterprise development stack while placing it directly within the network’s validator infrastructure.
SDP is an API-based platform for enterprises and financial institutions building payment, asset issuance, and trading products on Solana. The platform aggregates services such as wallets, compliance tools, blockchain infrastructure, and payment ramps behind a unified interface.
MoneyGram operates a global payments network spanning cash and digital transactions across more than 60 million active customers through nearly 500,000 retail locations and billions of digital endpoints.
Their participation has two components.
Through SDP, MoneyGram can connect payment products to Solana infrastructure through APIs rather than assembling separate wallet, compliance, custody, and blockchain integrations. The platform currently supports payments and digital asset issuance for enterprise developers.
Separately, MoneyGram is operating a Solana validator. It is not disclosed how much SOL is staked to MoneyGram’s validator, whether the company is accepting outside delegations, or how the infrastructure will be used within its payment products.
The integration extends MoneyGram’s existing work with stablecoins and blockchain-based payment infrastructure. The company said its systems already support fiat and stablecoin activity across treasury, product development, and payment operations. MoneyGram also launched MGUSD, its dollar-denominated stablecoin, earlier in June 2026.
“We believe the future of global money movement will be built on open, interoperable stablecoin rails that anyone, anywhere can access,” MoneyGram Chairman and CEO Anthony Soohoo said.
MoneyGram joins Mastercard, Worldpay, and Western Union among the financial and payments companies using SDP. Mastercard is working with the platform on stablecoin settlement, Worldpay on merchant payments and settlement, and Western Union on cross-border payments.
