Solana Accelerate China has postponed its Hangzhou and Shenzhen events after delaying the tour's opening stop in Shanghai. The delays affect three of the four stops on its mainland itinerary.
The China organizing team cited registrations above planned capacity and local event regulations as the reasons for the delays. Its Oct. 17 notice covered the Hangzhou event scheduled for Oct. 18 and the Shenzhen event scheduled for Oct. 20.
The team will announce replacement dates later.
Organizers postponed the Shanghai event on Oct. 16, the day it was due to begin. Solana Foundation President Lily Liu said registrations had quadrupled overnight after publicity and exceeded the attendance cap registered with local authorities. She attributed the postponement to compliance with local requirements.
The Shanghai delay also followed Solana executives' promotion of a new office in the city. The office campaign had attracted attention because of mainland China's restrictions on cryptocurrency business and activity, which include prohibition of crypto trading, token fundraising, and mining.
The organizing team will retain registration information for Hangzhou and Shenzhen and notify guests once it confirms new dates.
