Solana Foundation Introduces Frontier Traders Program for Onchain Markets

The Solana Foundation-backed program aggregates trading activity across Solana venues and gives high-volume onchain traders access to rebates, campaigns, events, and infrastructure support.

Solana Foundation Introduces Frontier Traders Program for Onchain Markets

The Solana Foundation has introduced Frontier Traders, a new community and incentives program aimed at professional and high-volume traders using Solana-based markets.

The program treats trading activity across Solana as part of a broader network-level market structure, not activity confined to a single exchange or venue. Frontier Traders includes a VIP rebates program, trading campaigns, global events, and infrastructure benefits for participants active across Solana's decentralized trading ecosystem.

Membership is open to all traders, according to the announcement. However, VIP rebates require participants to meet monthly trading-volume and open-interest thresholds. The Foundation said Frontier Traders will launch with support from major Solana venues that together account for more than 90% of the network's spot and perpetuals trading activity.

A Network-Level VIP Program for Onchain Markets

The core of Frontier Traders is a VIP program that tracks qualifying trading activity across multiple Solana venues in aggregate. That differs from traditional exchange VIP programs, where fee rebates, support, and account benefits are calculated at the individual venue level.

For takers, the initial tiers begin at $10 million in 30-day volume for VIP 1 and scale up to $5 billion or more for VIP 5. Monthly rebates range from 0.001% at VIP 1 to 0.005% at VIP 5. Higher tiers also require minimum open interest, starting at $5 million for VIP 2 and rising to $100 million for VIP 5.

The announcement also includes a maker category for spot markets, with rebates of $15,000 per asset per month split by volume. To qualify under that category, makers must meet a maximum spread requirement of less than 2.3 basis points from the NBBO midpoint for trades under $250,000.

Solana said volume and open interest are calculated on a moving 30-day lookback window, with trading activity reviewed on the first day of each month for tier qualification. Traders expecting to exceed $10 billion in volume are asked to contact the program directly through the application process.

Supported Venues Include Jupiter, Raydium, Phoenix and More

Frontier Traders is launching with a broad set of Solana trading venues, including Jupiter, Phoenix, Raydium, Backpack Securities, Orca, Meteora, Pump.fun, Axiom, OKX DEX, and others.

The Foundation also said that qualified VIP members will receive infrastructure partner benefits, like priority RPC access through an initial program with Triton and Helius. For active traders, RPC reliability can directly affect execution, latency, and the ability to interact with markets during periods of heavy network demand.

Qualified traders may also receive technical support and introductions to teams that can help them migrate activity to Solana. Traders who are not currently active on Solana can still apply if they can demonstrate volume on other venues and are considering moving activity onto the network.

Campaigns and Events Broaden the Program Beyond VIP Rebates

Frontier Traders is not limited to the highest-volume participants. Solana said members who do not qualify for VIP rebates will still be able to participate in trading campaigns, including daily, weekly, and monthly opportunities.

The first campaign, live until June 19, focuses on SpaceX-linked trading activity, with $25,000 in prizes for the top 100 traders by $SPCX volume. A full campaigns platform is planned, where members will be able to browse active opportunities and receive alerts when new campaigns go live.

The program also includes a global events component. Frontier Traders members are expected to have access to curated gatherings for onchain traders, with the next listed event scheduled for June 25 in London.

Why Frontier Traders Matters

As Solana continues to compete with Hyperliquid for trading volume, Frontier Traders represents a compelling play to bring ecosystem liquidity incentives, trader acquisition, technical support, community events, and venue coordination under one Solana-branded initiative.

There's an old saying that advises to "Go where you're wanted," and Frontier Traders is the Solana version of that wisdom for traders.

The introduction of a network-level VIP program is the Foundation rolling out the red carpet, giving high-volume traders a clearer reason to consolidate activity on Solana.
